Open Question: In your opionion, do you think the Politicians are concerned with "Class Warfare"?
when it comes to "bailouts", do they realize that when this happened to the white collar workers-wall road there was not such a push back and back lash, but now that the blue collar workers are asking for help no one can arrive to an agreement to keep us buying American and keeping the car workers employed. Don't punish the workers or the citizens that like to buy American; try looking at their leadership, Ceo and Exec teams.

Open Question: I'm a victim of an attack...what will they be charged with? ?
Some guys, that I in no way know, were throwing eggs/mustard and other food items out my friends apartment window down on people in the road...I was no way related to this (and had no idea it was going) because I was every the way in the back of the apartment in my pal's bedroom... When I came out of the bedroom there were police, and I work as a tutor for a program for below-priveleged students, and can't receive in trouble with the law (and have NEVER been in trouble with the law...not even for anything minor like a traffic ticket) I went to leave the apartment, looked out the window to look if the bus was there...it was so I walked down the steps and out the front door...where I was verbally harassed by a group of males...they started yelling "I recognize that B***H from the window"...and a bunch of other nasty stuff (I don't talk like that)...I went to cross the road to catch the bus only it left as I was crossing...I then had to make my way back to the apartment building... where these group of guys surronded me and start verbally harassing me again...and I was pushed...I tried to push the one guy out of the way (to receive to the door) and he slammed me against the wall...I threw a punch...he grabbed me by the neck..slammed me into the wall...another one of the shemales (I refuse to call them males) grabbed my arm, while the one punched me in the face...while the relax of them are in the background screaming "Yeah, hit that b***h good"...and other ridiculous stuff... I was a bloody mess when I got into the apartment building...bawling and screaming...it was a REALLY scarring experience... and I'm not trying to be vengeful but what are the guys going to receive? ...the police officers got the one guys I.D. (the one that punched me in the face) and he was arrested today...but the cops seem to be ignoring the fact that there were others involved... anyways, I just want justice...what will they be charged with? The state is West Virginia dryersheet you're a moron... I didn't realize calling someone who just beat the crap out of me a "shemale was "Stooping"...how silly of me....I didn't realize "f*****g wh**e" and *f*****g b**ch" were in the same category as "shemale"... Also, that could've very easily been injured a lot more if this wasn't happening in a public place with EMT's right across the road...I was in the hospital for a day...thanks for your concern. Open Question: how should i end my fictional story?
Along the Atlantic coast, I sat gazing towards the ocean. My mind was at peace and was roaming freely. The waves were gently breaking as the seagulls were soaring high over me. I could have kept my composure if it wasn’t for a man’s voice. “Good evening, miss,” he called. I gave him a weak grin and squeaked out a hello. My eyes scanned his body from head to toe. He had nice, green eyes and smooth, pale skin. His grin was bright and paraded his confidence. His chocolate brown hair flowed just over his perfect eyebrows. He stood just shy of six feet with legs that seemed like they could go on forever. He was unbelievably handsome. “What are you doing out here every alone?” he questioned. I really didn’t know why I’d arrive here. every I do is sit in the sand and just think. I’ve been doing it ever since I could remember. I never really thought about it. “Just to like the sound of the ocean, I guess,” I lied. I just sat with my bare feet buried in the sand as the emerald beauties of this stranger stared at me. He stood there a moment, looking as if he were contemplating what his next move was. He glanced over to a larger lady walking her pint-sized poodle then back at me. He flashed me a grin and shifted his weight from his left foot to his right. He lingered there, not saying anything for a moment, and then asked, “D’ya mind if I sit here?” He pointed to the sand next to me. I shook my head. After sitting together for a few minutes, we were talking like we’d known each other for years. We were talking and laughing for what seemed like forever when he asked, “Will you go somewhere with me?” Without thinking twice I jumped to my feet and said yes, eager to receive away from this familiar place. He led me to a sparkling, blue bicycle with a big basket attached to the handlebars. He swung his right leg over the seat, and commanded me to jump up to sit in the basket. I hesitated, but something about his grin made me want to jump into that basket and ride away with him to a far away place of peacefulness. I slowly put my hands on the handlebars and pushed off the ground with every my might and plopped my behind into the basket, letting my legs spill over the top of it. I reached for the handlebars and accidentally grasped the man’s hand. I quickly let go and my cheeks got hot. I glanced back and saw him grin and say, “Here we go, hold on!” We were riding for about ten minutes when we came to a halt close a big building with graffiti on the outside wall. He put the kickstand down and lifted his leg over the seat and stepped around in front of me. He put his hands around my waist and lifted me out of the basket and set me gently on the ground. I heard a crowd of voices coming from about a block away. He motioned me to follow him as he started to slide in between two buildings. I heard the voices getting louder as I inched my way between the buildings. After a minute or two, we reached the road where thousands of people stood before me. I wondered what they were here for. I glanced around and saw posters and signs that promoted peace. “Is this a peace rally?” I asked. The handsome stranger nodded. He started to walk towards a big stage upon which a person stood. We weaved in between kids and older people holding “anti-war” signs before we reached the front of the stage. The speaker atop of the stage preached about how peace should be implanted in people’s minds and spread through their mouths. I agreed completely and smiled. I shoved my hand into my front pockets and then my back pockets and found nothing but twenty-two cents and some lint. Open Question: Is the Bush Administration going to do anything?
More news on the economy's slide, and the Bush Administration's Katrina-like failure to do anything about it. Paulson, as usual, sounds like he's drugged -- he never seems to look the gravity of a situation until it's too tardy. Wall road is scared and rightly, so because the Bush Administration is looking more and more like Herbert Hoover's. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/21/business/economy/21norris.html?_r=1&hp Er, Congress has already given Bush the authority and money to do most of this stuff. These are mostly *executive* decisions. MessyJes, because we've known since the 1930's that government can fix recessions, and that government is necessary to fix recessions. Suggest you read about John Maynard Keynes and how government spending on the war ended the Great Depression.

Open Question: As President Bush gets ready to leave office, how amazing is it how bad the economy is?
which of his policies, if any do you think play some role in the following: a) record budget deficits b) record trade deficits c) record influx of illegal aliens taking jobs and depressing wages d) the lack of a modernized energy policy that could have reduced our energy costs e) rising infation mostly due to high energy cost f) the lack of a health care initiative that could have helped reduced the cost the overbearing high cost of health care to americans..perhaps allowing more businesses to be able to offer health insurance g) record outsourcing of jobs to countries like Mexico, china, india etc.. h) the erosion of our manufacturing base as businesses close down factories dismantle the equipment and send it to other countries i) the low interest rate policies that surely contributed to the housing bubble J) the low dollar monetary policy causing the prices of goods we pay here in the USA to be much higher K) Deregulation on wall road Ok..so we know the following: Bush is leaving office. We also know that he has been president for 8 years. We know that during most of those years, Bush pretty much got things done his way and implemented a lot of his policies that he wanted. We know the economy is doing awful and we know its not for just one reason...that there are many areas that are problematic. So the question is how much does Bush's philosophy of governance and his ideology have to do withe where we are today economically. Obviously if we just say that since Bush has been president for 8 years, is highly unpopular, and the world cheers knowing he will be leaving soon, so the evidence seems to point to some culpability. But I have in fact heard some people try to blame others instead of Bush for the economic crisis, or try to say that its just a coincidence that every these things are happening after 8 years of his governance, What do you think???? by the way, I ask this question not because I hate Bush. I ask the question to learn about what people think and to receive and intelligent exchange of information going hopefully. I wish no one minds that. ben, i saw your answer and read it, but I dont look where you answered my questions. can you go down my list like you did yours and give me specific answers?? you know like for record budget deficits. and when you say greed...whose job was it to curb the greed ..who advocates greed and is notoriously on the side of the greedy? and by the way ben...did bush not exist at every during the last 8 yeas? he had no power? he advocated no policies? whats the use of having a president then? lol I know bush pushed difficult for a law to make it harder for citizens to sue corporations, for the iraq war to start, for law to make it harder for citizens to file bankruptcy, for his couple rounds of tax cuts to put more money in pockets of the wealthy etc..etc.. so I know bush was very active. So if he cared, why was he not active in these areas that you say are the fault of democrats? wait ..werent republicans in charge of congress by a great majority every the way up until january 2007? you republicans think people are stupid to believe your finger pointing? you the party of deregulation are blaming a regulation lapse on the party that wants more regulations? you are blaming things on previous presidents when your possess and your party had years to fix the things that you did not like? ROFL

Open Question: Whose fault is the economic crisis anyway?
So let’s look at how we got here: ILLUSIONS Big part of what makes the American Dream is wish. However unrealistic, uneducated, and misinformed choices replace wish with illusions. Buyers had the illusion that homes would always keep increasing rapidly in value. However, they failed to understand that the real estate market has cycles. Some of the factors that create a change in the market are increased amounts of supply or demand, deregulation of the financial industry, easy and available credit, low interest rates and much more. People who bought homes they could not afford did it because they saw an opportunity to “invest” their life savings and achieve the American dream. They viewed this opportunity as attainable because banks made it possible, unscrupulous agents/brokers made them believe it was possible, and because they lacked the knowledge necessary to understand the responsibilities, risks and benefits of owning a home. Other illusions buyers had was their wages. The had the illusion that their wages would go up enough year after year to cover their ever increasing debt due to a lavish life style. This illusion, the lack of financial education and self-control allowed for people to live well beyond their means. Today people, banks, and our government are drowning in debt. CREDIT Competition in the market forces business to improve on their products and allows the consumer to purchase those products at affordable prices. However, competition between banks in a booming economy and low interest rates created a credit bonanza. Instead of banks improving on their products and services, they began utilizing creative financial tools to attract more borrowers. They also lend money to risky borrowers with little regard of their qualifications. Anybody that had a pulse could literally receive a loan. Banks can’t accommodate the demand for credit only with their money reserves. So if they want to lend more money, they sell these mortgages to commercial banks and Wall road lenders. Financial Crisis: Who's Fault Is It, Anyway? Doesn't matter. Because just about everyone is to blame. Republicans opened the door through debt-based credit derivatives and deregulation. Democrats further contributed by turning a blind eye to Fannie and Freddie and insisting that even those who couldn't really afford mortgages be allowed to receive them. The Bush Administration touted consumer spending as a means to boost the economy, and encouraged reckless consumer behaviors with billions in "stimulus"money, every while fueling the national debt through a disastrous war and tax cuts for people who don't really need them. And, of course, greedy banks and mortgage lenders went along, doing their best to bilk whoever came through door for whatever they could receive -- before passing the risk on to equally greedy investment banks and hedge fund managers. Consumers came along for the ride, abandoning reasonable financial practices and using credit to fuel materialism -- as well as making needy decisions by buying homes they couldn't afford with "creative" mortgage financing. Nearly everyone shares some of the blame. This is not the time to bicker over who is most at fault. It doesn't matter. The past is past. It's time to move forward and fix the problem. REALLY fix the problem. With practical solutions (that's right, follow the link for just one alternative -- and better IMO -- solution) that don't involve throwing a big, arbitrary amount of money at the problem. This is something that requires measured thought. And a change in how our society now views debt, money and the economy. There's no reason to rush into a bailout plan right now. Instead, a little more analysis is needed.

Open Question: Michael Scott and Yahoo Answers?
Okay, so I receive the Dunder Mifflin Newsletter each month from NBC, because I am a BIG office fan! But this month, Michael Scott mentioned Yahoo Answers, and I just found it really silly so I thought I'd share: AND NOW MICHAEL SCOTT by Michael Scott Here's the thing about this so-called "financial crisis," if it were really bad, people would be jumping out of buildings on Wall road. No one's jumping out of buildings, so it's probably just the media scaring us again, just like it did about birds catching the flu and cows getting mad. But there is a problem and in order to make things right, the government needs to start printing more money and lots of it. Now I know it takes money to make money, but I sell paper and you can receive a couple hundred sheets of it for a buck, thousands if you buy in bulk. If the government bought some quality Dunder Mifflin paper to print new money on, believe me, they'd make a huge profit on the deal even after the cost of ink. So if anyone knows Barack Obama, please forward this to him, and make sure he knows we're having an incredible special on Hammermill Great White recycled copy paper-99.99% jam free! But if the government insists on continuing to receive ripped off by the big box chains, there are other fixes. When it comes to stocks, they should start buying low and then selling high. I hear that's a good way to maximize profits. They should also consider focusing more on "transparency," "sustainability," and "stabilization." Those appear to be good things. At the same time we should avoid "recessions," "speculative bubbles," and "asset-liability mismatches," because according to Yahoo Answers, those are really bad things. Plus, they could clip or lift interest rates depending on the situation. I think if we take these simple steps, every our economic troubles will probably just go away, like global warming did after Al Gore made that really boring film. But yeah, I found it really silly that he mentioned Yahoo Answers, and also, I think someone really does need to forward this letter to Barack Obama! :)

Open Question: What did Obama's press secretary mean by this?
Rahm Emanuel's comment that happened on Wednesday. He was speaking to the Wall road Journal and he made this comment about the economy. He said this with a big grin on his face... He said quote: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste, and what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you didn't think you could do before." Read those words slowly..."You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. We can do things we couldn't do before." Who's out there saying this? Is it Russia, is it Venezuela, is it the Middle East, is it extremists, is it anarchists here in America, is it the United Nations, NO ! It's our possess Progressives here in America that would like to overturn much of the Constitution, that would like to change America into a socialistic state? Who is it? What is it? I will tell you that my gut tells me that what's happening in the market right now is people know what I've known for a long time. There is no turning this back. We have hit the debt limit. This whole thing, with the bailouts and everything else, was designed to slow it down, I believe, to slow everything down so you could receive a handle on what's coming our way, so you could be prepared. Well, are you preparing? Because what I believe is happening in the market is others are preparing. Those who have gigantic power and gigantic access to gigantic sums of money, they are preparing. I don't think people are doing the best for the country anymore, I don't think they're doing the best for their possess businesses anymore. I wonder if they're not doing the best for some other goal of just survival: Let us be one of the ones that actually survive; we're going to be able to have whatever power, whatever money we need to be able to survive. The whole world could change. Are we are entering a brown shirt time? I remember Obama refusing to take questions from certain reporters. I remember him refusing to allow certain reporters to travel with his campaign. I also remember him talk about changes... I feel that changes are indeed coming. God help us every. If our economy collapses, what happens to our mortgages, our installment loans? Should we not worry about paying debts, just stocking up on food and flame wood? Ok, maybe a little bit of drama but what about the 'fairness doctrine' that the dems are pushing? Isn't that 'big brotherish'? I mean, the government will dictate radio programming? Maybe I am seeing a pattern before you do? I am just connecting dots...

Open Question: Do you think you will be affected if the car industry goes down?
I don’t think anybody won’t be affected. The car industry goes too deep in this country. Will we be importing every repair part we will ever need and we every know how good the quality of imports has been lately. Would we be able to sue a company from another country like those involved with Explorers? How many Wall road companies were involved? There are only 3 major car companies and too many people involved. Will we also be importing the equipment we need for this war? How smart will that be? Call your Congress person. However with the crashing of wall road and the economic instability that has followed should the tax cuts be repealed or extended?

Open Question: Dream of aliens afraid of God. Help!?
I have to start by saying I am 1 1/2 months pregnant and just since my pregnancy have started having weird dreams...here it goes.... It started at a Little Caesars and me, my husband and daughter were buying pizza when we noticed people in the back who were cooking yelling and running to the front. I somehow knew these were aliens that were attacking. I left my husband and daughter and ran to the back right of the store and found an elevator. i got in and it was the size of a whole room. i pushed a button that said Little Caesars Executive. it went down and then left. i ended up at the store next door and only 1 girl was there i told her to stay close and watch the mirrors since they were on the shelfs where the prices are at. then suddenly when we were about to reach the door i turned left and this man with an bad look on his face took the girl and i was so scared i yelled in his face, " Jesus is my savior and you can not hurt me so leave me alone!" after I said that he had a scared look in his face as well and left me alone. So, I ran next door to find my husband and daughter standing outside. I explained to my husband that these aliens/bad people are afraid of God so every we have to do when they receive close is pray and worship God by singing to him out noisy with every our might and faith. It started to POUR rain and it turned to night. We got in our car and started driving to find out if our relatives were ok. Then as we were heading out, my mom, sister, 2 brothers, and step dad parked next to us to look if we were ok. I ran to her van and explained that they every need to pray and sing to God if any of them arrive close them because they are afraid of God. I hugged my mom as tight as I could and told her I have to find everyone else and that I knew and that my mom and everyone in the van would be fine since they are more religious than me. They stayed in the parking lot and in their van. We drove towards the old mall across the road and we could barley receive around the lot because of sooo many cars. Then we noticed the aliens/bad people had blocked the main road and were intentionally trying to keep every of us together. Since my husband is a great driver he managed to find a tight space to receive out of and we headed towards our relatives. It stopped raining and turned to day, and instead of being in the car, we ended up being in a school bus full of other people who knew they had to pray and sing to keep them away. This bus had no windows only curtains. As we rode these aliens would try to climb the bus and that is when we would every sing 1 tune every together and they would leave. I noticed my dad was in the golf course on a hill and I yelled to him to arrive down to the bus be saved, so he somehow appeared on the bus without us stopping. I explained to him about praying and singing as well. Now as the bus drove we noticed that temptation was now a problem here. Some sneaky aliens would create a scenery and roll play and show people what they wanted to look. Drugs, girls, dancing. And 1 by 1 people started to leave the bus for those things and were sucked into believing they were good. Then I noticed the bus made another cease and my dad was walking towards the door. I pleaded with him to stay on and that this was every a mistake and an attempt to lie to him and that staying on the bus would be the best thing. He said no. He got off and walked toward a pretty lady who was about in her tardy 30s with black hair and holding a roll of kitchen paper. I told my husband that we need to stay strong and keep praying and singing. At the next cease I noticed he was wanting to go next. Again I pleaded for him to stay and he got down and stayed with a lady (I saw her in the dream but can not remember what she looked like). The bus continued and about 7 of us were left. We were now in a safe part of town and some people wanted to be left at their possess houses. So we dropped off about 2 others and 1 happened to live on an Indian Reservation. As the bus drove out of the reservation we noticed the doors of these homes were tvs displaying the news about these aliens. We reach the leave and find that the aliens had blocked it with flame and lots of logs in a row like a fence. I receive off the bus carrying my daughter and now it was just a group and girls my age and we run to a home. In the home we notice a room with the magic mirror from Snow White and it is the size of the whole wall to the left of it is a door. We every decide to go through it and we end up on the other side of the burning fence. I somehow am no longer holding my daughter, i lost her, but I was not worried it did not bother me, I did not think much of it. We then look these aliens/bad people doing construction in a home about 50 ft away and wearing difficult hats and vests. They spot us and we run towards a white car close that home that somehow belongs to one of the girls. As I was running to the car I noticed my husband ran out of that home with a gun in his hand. The most pe

Open Question: You can take this anyway you want!?
The banking institute, wall road and the government got us into this mess and now everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else! When NAFTA was passed you started to notice jobs lost to everywhere, and to Mexico and then the banks started foreclosing on the ones who couldn't pay their over priced homes they sold them knowing full well what they were doing! What they should have done was worked with these people and lowered their interest rates and payments instead of foreclosing and the problem wouldn't have gotten so far out of hand! What do you think?

Open Question: Why would Wall Street investors expect Obama to fix this quickly?
People still don't seem to grasp how bad this is. It's still getting worse with no sign yet that we've hit bottom. At best, it's going to take years to turn this around, even with the best possible management in Washington. And Wall road knows that. Squidbilly, even if that's true -- and I'm not sure how we can even talk about self-correction at this point, given unprecedented levels of government intervention worldwide -- you're talking 2010. If the conventional six month anticipation holds true, that isn't sufficient to change the bear market until mid 2009 at the earliest. OK, sorry, but this is just too dumb. Someone actually ascribed this to the New Deal (1930's) and Great Society (1960's). And six people thumbed the comment up! Do those people even read what they're approving? Or do they have no idea what they're talking about? Talk about knee jerk! Er, Palin 2012, I'm 54. And let's just say you're in mistake regarding my understanding, 'k? Who debates facts, your cousin's points are almost childish in their naivete. For one thing (since you like facts), within bounds, it's the White home that's determining how that $700 billion is spent, not Congress.

Open Question: Truckers will be able to drive longer?
Does anyone got the bigger scoop on this? Here's the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20081121/pl_ynews/ynews_pl158 And here's the quote: The Wall road Journal reports that the new rules, "open the way for commercial development of oil shale on federal land, allow truckers to steer for longer periods... Bush is doing what Clinton did, signing a bunch of executive orders before leaving office. The hours-of-service regulations are not passed constitutionally in the first place; a bunch of big-shot social engineers at the DOT arrive up with those. I always hated them when I drove a truck. Those HOS regs didn't make a lick of difference to the environment, and they absolutely have nothing to do with how long truck drivers are away from their families. They SOUND like a good idea to people who are COMPLETELY IGNORANT.

Resolved Question: Do you support an auto bailout?
I do but with stipulations. I do not want to reward corrupt greedy CEOs who are making 20 million dollars a year while their businesses are going bankrupt. There needs to be a mandate for cleaner more fuel efficient vehicles, lift the CAFE standards, smaller cars and some more hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. But we cannot allow over 3 million people to loose their jobs. Taxes will have to go up to pay for the unemployment insurance and banks will foreclose on their houses if they cannot pay off their mortgages and banks will increase the interest rates to cover the foreclosures. THis is serious and I support a mainstream bailout. Not a Wall road Bailout for the banknig and the financial industries.

Resolved Question: When I find a dog in the street, where is the best place to take them? ?
Last week I was on the freeway, in the quick lane, when I saw the reflection of two scared looking eyes of a dog. Mind you I was in the quick lane with less then 5 feet between me and the retainer wall. If I could have pulled over I would have. I called the police to inform them of my witness. I went back to look if I could look the dog again and I couldn't find it. With the community decline, I've noticed that a lot of people are abandoning their pets. I don't want to look these dogs in the streets, getting hurt, and possibly getting killed. I wish that I could keep them every, but I don't have the money or the room. I also don't want to look them being put down. Please help....

Resolved Question: Do the terms liberal and conservative even mean anything anymore ..for example?
I just asked a question about Bush - please look the link below. I got insulted by both the right and the left based on me calling many of his policies leftist. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqHwVfoO9mGOkp4AMVMRK7nsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081120101737AAzgrHi Typically in my mind the term liberal has meant investing in public works though taxes may need to be increased. While conservative has meant low taxes and low spending regardless of social need. I think both ways are good depending on the situation. We just had a "conservative President" who did an extremely socialist thing. The actual definition of socialism - where govt owns portion of business. Thats what just happened with this buy out on Wall road. So that would be what some would call very left - govt interfering in the market place aka natural selection economy. That's the heart of the difference historically...so if thats not the most LEFT leaning thing a Pres has ever done what does it mean? And do the words conservative and liberal even have a real meaning? or is it based more on social identity.and values - in which case can you call it a politic or is it just a demographic now? Thats what I'm beginning to think these names suggest, especially when i got insulted on both sides for asking this question. Your thoughts.

Open Question: Is really what's good for wall street good for the economy of the USA as a whole?
Wall road seems to me to act like a spoiled child acting upset until it gets what it wants....but is what it wants really whats good for the country?? For example, if wall road falls because there is no bailout for some companies....is that really saying we should have bailed out? Wall road is insatiable and even if you satisfy them today they can be nervous about something else tomorrow. I say forget wall road and take the temperature of main road to know what medicines to apply.

Open Question: Why are some people blaming homeowners for the financial crisis?
Factcheck.org lists every responsible for our current economic situation. •The Federal Reserve, which slashed interest rates after the dot-com bubble burst, making credit cheap. •Home buyers, who took advantage of easy credit to bid up the prices of homes excessively. •Congress, which continues to support a mortgage tax deduction that gives consumers a tax incentive to buy more expensive houses. •Real estate agents, most of whom work for the sellers rather than the buyers and who earned higher commissions from selling more expensive homes. •The Clinton administration, which pushed for less stringent credit and downpayment requirements for working- and middle-class families. •Mortgage brokers, who offered less-credit-worthy home buyers subprime, adjustable rate loans with low initial payments, but exploding interest rates. •Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, who in 2004, close the peak of the housing bubble, encouraged Americans to take out adjustable rate mortgages. •Wall road firms, who paid too little attention to the quality of the risky loans that they bundled into Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS), and issued bonds using those securities as collateral. •The Bush administration, which failed to provide needed government oversight of the increasingly dicey mortgage-backed securities market. •An obscure accounting rule called mark-to-market, which can have the paradoxical result of making assets be worth less on paper than they are in reality during times of panic. •Collective delusion, or a belief on the part of every parties that home prices would keep rising forever, no matter how high or how quick they had already gone up. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/who_caused_the_economic_crisis.html Laissez-Faire Guy - Did you read the article that I provided? Bob, from every I have read, trickle down economics hasn't worked and has created huge problems. The days of lenders with a conscience are long gone. The public is so quick to blame the homeowners while ignoring preditory lenders. They did everything in their power to write loans for needy people with bad credit. They even suggested ARMs for people whose credit was good enough for a fixed rate mortgage. They suggested interest only ARMs and other loans that I would never consider. Many people did not know any better, but the lenders knew what they were doing. http://checksnbalances.blogspot.com/2007/05/predatory-lending.html Jethro G - When we bought our home, we could have bought a more expensive home, but knew that we would be taking on too much if we did. The people who signed on the dotted line have contributed, but the lenders and lawmakers played a bigger part. At least, that's the way it looks to me.
